Yanjin Puzi Ranks on the 2024 Hurun Brand List

On April 16th, the Hurun Research Institute released the 2024 Hurun Brand List, sorting out the 300 most valuable Chinese brands. This marks the 19th consecutive year the institute has published this list. Yanjin Puzi made the list at No. 248 with a brand value of 3 billion yuan.


01 PART. ONE  Six Hunan Brands Make the List

In the latest release, six brands from Hunan are on the list: Furongwang, Mango TV (a brand under Mango Supermedia), Xingsheng Youxuan, Baisha (a brand under Hunan China Tobacco), Yanjin Puzi, and Yifeng Pharmacy.

Most listed brands are headquartered in Beijing (71), followed by Guangdong (58), Shanghai (48), Zhejiang (25), Jiangsu (16), Hong Kong (14), Sichuan (9), Shandong (8), Fujian (7), and Chongqing and Hunan (tied for 10th with 6 each).

From a regional perspective, brand distribution varies significantly across provinces. For Hunan, 5 of the 6 listed brands (except Furongwang) are from Changsha, highlighting prominent regional concentration.

 

02 PART. TWO 66% Private Brands Show Vitality

Overall, the total value of listed enterprises on this list is 6 trillion yuan, down 12.6% from last year. The top 300 brands come from 64 Chinese cities, unchanged from last year; 133 brands saw their values rise, including 50 new entries; 195 brands saw values decline, with 40 dropping off the list.

Private brands play a crucial role, accounting for 66% (204) of the listed brands, 12 more than last year, including 41 new private brand entries. 62 private brands entered the national top 100, 2 more than last year, and 6 private brands made the national top 10, 1 fewer than last year.

In terms of rankings, while Kweichow Moutai's brand value fell 24% to 800 billion yuan, it remained the "Most Valuable Chinese Brand" for the seventh consecutive year; Douyin's brand value increased by 50 billion yuan to 245 billion yuan, rising to second place; WeChat's brand value grew 4% to 235 billion yuan, holding steady in third place.

Rupert Hoogewerf, Chairman and Chief Research Officer of Hurun Group, said: "The Hurun Brand List has tracked the evolution of Chinese brands for 19 consecutive years, demonstrating the rise of Chinese brands and the improvement of national recognition. Domestic trendy products have won consumers' trust with excellent quality, cultural value, and consumption experience, reflecting the enhanced innovation capability of Chinese manufacturing."

 

03 PART. THREE "New Chinese Snacks": Multi-matrix Incubation of National Brand Stars

Yanjin Puzi's ranking on the Hurun Brand List signifies its market value, popularity, and influence have been recognized. The Hurun Brand List, released by the Hurun Research Institute, aims to evaluate and rank China's most valuable brands. Listed brands undergo strict evaluation and screening based on multiple dimensions, mainly including brand financial performance, market performance, and brand loyalty.

New Chinese-style snacks are Yanjin Puzi's core strategy, with the brand positioning of "Chinese Snacks, Yanjin Puzi". Up to now, focusing on advantageous category tracks, Yanjin Puzi has owned sub-brands including "MOWON" (konjac vegetarian tripe)"O-KING" (quail eggs)"31° Fresh" (deep-sea snacks)"Hanbean Papa" (casual baking)"Konjac Full Score" (konjac jelly), and "O-POTATO" (potato snacks) in addition to the main brand "Yanjin Puzi".
